Casino design specialist Steelman Partners LLP is handling the design of NagaCorp Ltd’s new extension to NagaWorld casino resort in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh. Naga 3, to be a mix of gaming and non-gaming, will have a total cost of around US$3.52 billion, said the promoter in a Monday filing.

Hong Kong-listed NagaCorp has an exclusive licence to operate casinos in Phnom Penh and its surroundings. It started operations with the NagaWorld property, now referred to as Naga 1, which opened in December 2006. That property now links to Naga 2, an expansion that opened in November 2017. The overall complex is now known as NagaWorld Complex (pictured in a file photo).

“Subject to governmental approval, the plan is to connect the underground NagaCity Walk [shopping mall] linking Naga 1 and Naga 2 to Naga 3,” said NagaCorp.

Steelman Partners worked on the design of both Naga 1 and Naga 2. The firm is known in the gaming industry in East Asia for its work on a number of high-profile casino resorts, including Sands Macao, a property owned by Macau casino operator Sands China Ltd – whose parent company is U.S.-based Las Vegas Sands Corp – and the second phase of Galaxy Macau, the Cotai flagship property of Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd.

The firm has also worked on the Grand Ho Tram Strip in Vietnam; Solaire Resort and Casino in the Philippines; and the Imperial Pacific Resort and Hotel on Saipan, part of the U.S. Pacific jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands

In its filing, NagaCorp also provided additional detail on the Naga 3 project. It will consist of five tower blocks. The land allocated for the new development covers 16,837 square meters (181,231 sq feet).

“Upon completion, Naga 3 is expected to comprise of two 66-storey hotels, two 45-storey hotels, one 48-storey [condominium hotel], one three-level basement and one 11-level multi-entertainment podium,” stated the firm.

NagaCorp said Naga 3 would be adding a total 4,720 hotel rooms to the NagaWorld Complex. “Several of the hotels are intended to be managed by one or more well-known international hotel brands,” the firm stated.

Naga1 currently offers 755 rooms, while Naga 2 features a hotel room supply of 903 keys.

NagaCorp stated the planned condominium hotel product would “create a semi-permanent community within NagaWorld Complex which allow units to access all the facilities in NagaWorld as well as the full range of NagaWorld’s VIP services.”

According to the information provided by the company in its filing, Naga 3 will feature both mass gaming and VIP gaming.

“The Naga 3 project will showcase a lifestyle product consisting of gaming and non-gaming spaces and comprise amenities and facilities which are not available at Naga 1 and Naga 2, notably hi-tech virtual reality interactive indoor theme parks, more shopping and MICE facilities and family recreational areas etc. to impart a more satisfying, penetrating and complete visitation experience,” NagaCorp stated.
