Australia-listed slot machine maker Ainsworth Game Technology Ltd has appointed Matt Smith (pictured) as vice president of marketing and product strategy. The company said the step would strengthen the “company’s leadership team within the key market of North America”.
Mr Smith is said to have “more than a decade of experience” in the gaming industry, “with a strong track record of driving product innovation and market growth”.
In his new role at Ainsworth, Mr Smith will lead the firm’s marketing and product strategy initiatives, “focusing on expanding the Ainsworth brand and delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to customers throughout North America”.
He joined Ainsworth from gaming equipment maker and content provider International Game Technology Plc (IGT), where he spent eight years, most recently serving as director of premium product management.
Prior to his tenure at IGT, Mr Smith held various roles within the slot department at the Bellagio Resort & Casino, a complex operated by MGM Resorts International on the Las Vegas Strip, Nevada, in the United States. He also served in different roles at other properties run by MGM Resorts.
The announcement cited Ryan Comstock, Ainsworth’s acting chief executive, as saying that Mr Smith’s “combination of operator insight and product leadership makes him an exceptional addition” to the company’s team.
Mr Comstock stated: “Matt’s expertise and proven track record is expected to positively contribute to current product strategies and strengthen our position in the market.”
Mr Smith said in prepared remarks that he was “excited to join Ainsworth at such a pivotal time”.
“The company has a strong foundation and tremendous potential, and I look forward to helping drive the next phase of growth through compelling products and strategic marketing,” Mr Smith stated.
