Philippine casino developer and promoter Bloomberry Resorts Corp launched last weekend its online gaming platform, dubbed “MegaFUNalo”. The firm took out full-page ads in local newspapers to announce the soft launch of the platform.
Philippines-listed Bloomberry runs its flagship Solaire Resort & Casino property at Entertainment City in Manila. The company also operates a land-based operation at Solaire Resort North, at Vertis, Quezon City, north of Metro Manila.
Following the launch of the online gaming platform, Bloomberry shares rose by 18.4 percent on Monday, closing at PHP5.92 (US$0.106) per share.
MegaFUNalo features free-to-play games, live shows, and real-money prizes, as well as free-to-watch movies. It offers digital versions of slot and casino games such as poker, blackjack, roulette, and baccarat, as well as several arcade games.
The new platform will complement the existing “Solaire Online” platform, featuring live casino games.
The company has partnered with several local banks and mobile wallet operators for the platform’s payment channels.
MegaFUNalo is set to compete directly with offerings of other electronic gaming license holders, including from DigiPlus Interactive Corp.
The Inquirer newspaper cited equity research analyst Jeri Alfonso, from Unicapital Securities Inc, as saying that MegaFUNalo’s success would eventually depend on Bloomberry’s customer acquisition efforts.
“[DigiPlus] spent three years building its user base – from 800,000 monthly active users in 2022 to 7.5 million by the first quarter of 2025,” stated the analyst in comments to the local newspaper.
In comments made in April, Bloomberry’s chairman and chief executive, Enrique Razon, said the new online platform would be a way for the company to reach out to a broader market that has been getting familiar with online gaming.
“Our strategy of aggressively pursuing our online business is how we intend to recover any lost revenue,” he stated at the time. “This new mainstream brand will complement Solaire Online and is anticipated to bring our brand of online gaming entertainment to Filipinos nationwide.”
The casino firm reported first-quarter net income attributable to its shareholders of PHP3.32 billion on revenue that rose by 15.3 percent year-on-year, to PHP14.29 billion.
