Canada’s Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is one of two organisations from that nation to become “partner members” at the International Gaming Standards Association (IGSA) for the latter’s “new responsible gaming initiative”.

The other is Focal Research Consultants Ltd, a Halifax, Nova Scotia-based research and technology company focused on “gambling risk detection and player support,” per a recent IGSA update.

The Toronto, Onatario-based Responsible Gambling Council is a non-profit organisation “promoting safer gambling and advancing responsible gambling standards in Canada and internationally,” according to IGSA’s statement.

Mark Pace, the trade association’s president was cited as saying: “IGSA is excited to welcome our new partners in responsible gaming.

“We are looking to work with organisations that are truly dedicated to doing good in the RG [responsible gaming] space.”

He added: “There is a lot of time, energy and money being spent in this area and we want to leverage the incredible work being done in an effort to amplify its positive effect.”

Tracy Schrans, co-founder and president of Focal Research, was cited as stating: “Drawing on over three decades of applied research, responsible gambling evaluation, and player protection, we look forward to collaborating with IGSA members to advance practical evidence-based industry standards for keeping players safe.”

Sarah McCarthy, chief executive of the Responsible Gambling Council was quoted as saying: “With deep expertise in standards development, applied research, and harm prevention, RGC is pleased to work alongside IGSA members to develop practical, implementable standards that strengthen player protection in meaningful ways.”
