Cambodia is to offer visa-free entry to Chinese-passport holders for a period from June 15 to October 15 next year. They will be allowed to stay for up to 14 days, but without limit on frequency.
Chinese news agency Xinhua cited the source of the information as a letter signed by Hing Thoraxy, an official of Cambodia’s Council of Ministers
Xinhua quoted the letter stating: “During a four-month trial period from June 15 to October 15, 2026, they [Chinese-passport holders] do not need to apply for a visa, nor to pay a fee. They just simply fill in an E-arrival card.”
The arrangement, according to Xinhua, was also said to have provisions for the Cambodian government to negotiate with the Chinese authorities to “ease and simplify visa application procedures for Cambodian tourists to China in order to achieve the implementation of reciprocal visa exemptions in the future”.
The news agency cited Cambodian Ministry of Tourism data indicating the country attracted about 1 million Chinese tourists during the January to October period this year.
Hong Kong-listed NagaCorp Ltd, operator of NagaWorld, the only casino resort permitted in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, gave some commentary in its interim report published in September, regarding the improved outlook for inbound tourism.
It stated, citing data from sources including the Cambodia Airports group and airlines: “Direct flights from Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Greater China as of 15 August 2025 have recovered to approximately 71 percent, 67 percent, and 43 percent of 2019 pre-pandemic levels.”
The company said: “As the only integrated resort operating in Phnom Penh, NagaWorld continues to benefit from this ongoing tourism recovery.”
“Supported by steady economic growth” in the region, “NagaWorld is well-positioned to benefit from the increasing influx of both leisure and business travellers,” the firm added.
In October, NagaCorp said that its casino gross gaming revenue for the nine months to September 30 had risen 29.6 percent year-on-year.
