Philippines-listed DigiPlus Interactive Corp says the firm’s chief executive, Tommy Hu Jianguo, has been appointed to the company’s board. The step followed the resignation of Tang Yong from the board of DigiPlus, with effect from February 17.
The company said Mr Tang resigned for “personal reasons”, but he will remain as a “board advisor”.
According to a filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Mr Hu will also be part of the company’s nomination committee, compensation committee, and executive committee.
In the Philippines, DigiPlus runs BingoPlus, described as that country’s first government-approved online bingo platform. It also operates ArenaPlus, a sportsbook; and GameZone, a platform for casual and arcade gaming.
The brand additionally operates – via subsidiaries – a few slot arcades at VIP clubs under the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), the country’s regulator-cum-operator.
Mr Hu was promoted to the role of CEO in June last year, with the responsibility of helping DigiPlus “expand into regulated international markets,” the firm stated at the time.
The latest announcement described Mr Hu as a “seasoned software engineer and strategic business leader with over two decades of experience spanning platform innovation, gaming operations, and enterprise-scale technology leadership”.
He was said to have “played a pivotal role in transforming DigiPlus from a land-based gaming operator” into a tech-driven “digital entertainment brand,” as per the company.
