Philippines-listed DigiPlus Interactive Corp says the group delivered 1,000 relief packs in early October to families in the municipalities of Daanbantayan and Medellin, in Cebu, following the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck that region of the country on September 30.
Such effort was conducted by DigiPlus’ social development arm, BingoPlus Foundation, according to a recent press release.
Each pack was prepared to “support the immediate needs of a family of five,” including basic medicine, as per the update.
The announcement cited Henczen Tamayo, BingoPlus Foundation programme manager for resilience and healthcare, as saying the two communities needed “swift, reliable help”.
He added: “Through our BayanihanPlus initiative, we work hand-in-hand with local officials and community leaders to reach the hardest-hit areas, prioritise those most in need, and get essential goods to families without delay.”
Employee volunteers from Cebu-based BingoPlus branches supported distribution and on-ground coordination, making use of DigiPlus’ “local presence to respond quickly to disaster-affected communities,” stated the firm.
“This deployment underscores DigiPlus’ and BingoPlus Foundation’s ongoing commitment to stand with Filipinos in times of crisis, leveraging the reach of its retail network to deliver immediate relief and hope to communities in need,” the company added.
