DigiPlus ‘on track’ for September launch of Brazil online gaming operations

Philippines-listed DigiPlus Interactive Corp says it is “on track” to launch its online gaming operations in Brazil “this September”. That would be circa nine months after the firm announced to the Philippine Stock Exchange in January that a unit had the Brazilian government’s permission to run “sports betting and other online games” there.

Eusebio Tanco, DigiPlus chairman, was cited saying in a Wednesday announcement: “Our entry into Brazil is part of our strategic expansion programme to usher DigiPlus’ next phase of growth.”

The statement added that Brazil – “with a population of over 200 million and Internet penetration of nearly 90 percent” – is “one of Latin America’s fastest-growing gaming markets, with an estimated market size of  circa US$4.6 billion for iGaming”.

DigiPlus explained that figure was based on a report from an entity called LCA Economic Consulting.

In its domestic market, the company is known for its BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone products.

Wednesday’s update noted DigiPlus’ arrival in Brazil would mean “unlocking a gaming market twice the size of the Philippines and paving the way for new sources of growth”.

DigiPlus reported net income of PHP4.20 billion (US$74.5 million currently) for the opening quarter of 2025, a 110.6-percent increase from the prior-year period.

The company stated in the results to March 31, published in May, that first-quarter 2025 “marked the third anniversary” of BingoPlus, which now had “over 40 million registered users”.

DigiPlus said in is Wednesday announcement it had in Brazil a “dedicated local team with deep cultural and regulatory knowledge”.

This would ensure its local unit DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltda “delivers not just popular global games, but also high-quality local experiences and responsible gaming,” stated the parent.

In Brazil, DigiPlus would offer “a fresh lineup of live-streamed games, slots, table games, and exclusive self-developed digital entertainment content designed to thrill local players,” stated the brand in its Wednesday update.

The update also mentioned as background that in 2024 Brazil’s government formally approved regulations for online betting and gaming, “providing clear guidelines for licensed operators, consumer protections, and fair taxation”.

This had “opened the door for trusted international players like DigiPlus to enter the market legally, offering local players secure, properly regulated, and responsibly managed digital entertainment experiences,” said the Philippine group.

In March, DigiPlus appointed industry specialist Graham Tidey as country manager for its Brazil operations.
