Online bookmaker 1xBet has announced Filipino mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Mark ‘Mugen’ Striegl as its latest brand ambassador. The company said the appointment was a “strategic move” to strengthen its ties with the sports community in the Philippines and beyond.

The partnership, which began last month, sees Mr Striegl joining the company’s roster of sports figures. His achievements include a title in the Philippine-based Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) featherweight division, and a gold medal in combat cambo at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

1xBet’s global partnerships include football clubs such as FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as prominent athletes like Brazilian mixed martial artist José Aldo and Filipino basketball player Chris Newsome.

As a brand ambassador, Mr Striegl is featuring in 1xBet’s marketing campaigns and public engagements, said the company in a release. His role includes “participating in a variety of promotional activities” designed to deliver “new content and exclusive opportunities” for sports fans and betting enthusiasts alike, 1xBet added.

The firm’s collaboration with Mr Striegl highlights the brand’s “commitment to fostering strong connections within local communities, particularly in the Philippines, where MMA and sports betting have a passionate following,” the company said.

By partnering with a high-profile athlete, 1xBet said it aimed to celebrate the “spirit of sportsmanship and competition,” while enhancing support for the sports that people follow.
