Ed Domingo, a former MGM Resorts International executive, is to take over in late April as chief executive of the Crown Melbourne casino resort (pictured) in the Victorian capital Melbourne, in Australia.
The information was given in a Monday update by privately-held Australian casino group Crown Resorts Ltd, with the appointment subject to regulatory approvals.
Mr Domingo was most recently president and chief operating officer of MGM Resorts’ Empire City Casino in Yonkers, New York City, in the United States.
He will succeed Mike Volkert, who has served two-and-a-half years as Crown Melbourne CEO, but who is leaving in April to “pursue an opportunity outside of Crown,” according to the announcement.
“We thank Mike for his leadership steering Crown Melbourne through a period of significant transformation,” said the company.
The newcomer Mr Domingo is said to have more than 20 years of experience in hospitality and casino industry work.
Before working at Empire City Casino, he was senior vice president and chief financial officer at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in the U.S.
David Tsai, Crown Resorts CEO, was cited as saying of the incoming executive: “Ed has a proven track record in leading integrated resorts.”
He added that Mr Domingo’s experience across a number of gaming jurisdictions meant he would be “well-positioned to lead Crown Melbourne’s next phase of growth and success”.
In March last year, it was announced by Victorian regulators that Crown Resorts would be allowed to keep its licence to run the Crown Melbourne complex, following investigations and disciplinary action by regulators, stemming from previous operations at the property.
