Galaxy Ent hosted 212 shows and sports events in 2025, pledges to help Macau be entertainment hub

Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group hosted 212 entertainment and sports events in 2025, as part of its efforts to promote the city as a “World City of Entertainment”. That is according to a statement issued by the company.

Macau has a policy aspiration to be a “City of Entertainment”, in the words of a local-government slogan. The aim is to increase the economic contribution of shows, concerts and other non-gaming entertainment to the city’s tourism market.

Galaxy Entertainment said in its Tuesday Chinese-language update on its 2025 involvement in that push, that the firm’s Cotai flagship resort Galaxy Macau (pictured) had “successfully presented a diverse range of artistic performances and events across its world-class venues.”

It said the offerings had included shows for “world tours by Chinese and international superstars such as Jacky Cheung, Eason Chan, Jackson Wang, and G-Dragon”.

In addition, “world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli, international piano virtuoso Lang Lang, and international comedy star Jimmy O. Yang have also delivered spectacular performances,” said the firm.

Galaxy Entertainment noted that the 200-plus event count also included music awards and variety shows, as well as sports events. Examples of the latter category staged by the company were the 2025 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Men’s and Women’s World Cups, and the table tennis matches of the 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China.

Galaxy Macau’s facilities include the 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena, plus a 620-seat auditorium at Galaxy International Convention Center; the show venue G Box at Galaxy Macau, that can host up to 850, as well as the 2,500-seat Broadway Theatre at Broadway Macau, next door to Galaxy Macau.

The casino firm has at least 188 show sessions across its properties in 2025, most of them concerts, according to the company’s publicity materials reviewed by GGRAsia. The figure included multiple consecutive concert sessions by various artists held throughout the year, such as those of artists G Dragon, Jacky Cheung, Eason Chan, and Jackon Wang.

As of Wednesday, the company has scheduled at least 30 shows for this year’s January to March period, with 16 of them marked for Galaxy Arena.

The arena-based shows lineup includes concerts by South Korean boy band Super Junior to be held for three consecutive nights from Friday (January 9); two concert sessions from another South Korean boy band RIIZE in early February; a concert by Chinese pop singer Tian Zhen; and two stand-up comedy shows from Jimmy O. Yang. The latter two artists’ performances will be held during this year’s Chinese New Year holiday period in the second half of February.
