Genting Malaysia Bhd, controller of monopoly Malaysian casino complex Resorts World Genting, is to have a new chief financial officer (CFO) with effect from Tuesday (April 1). Loh Wai Yee is taking over from Koh Poy Yong on the latter’s retirement from the post.

According to a Friday filing to Bursa Malaysia, Ms Loh joined the group in June 2023 as senior vice president for finance. In August of that year, she became deputy CFO at Genting Malaysia, which also has casino interests in the United States and the Bahamas, and in the United Kingdom and Egypt.

In her group CFO role, Ms Loh will be responsible for “the finance, risk management, procurement and regulatory compliance functions of the company,” according to the announcement.

The Friday update said she has over 30 years of experience in work related to finance, strategy, investment management, risk management and auditing.

Prior to joining the company, Ms Loh held senior leadership positions with Tenaga Nasional Bhd, a utilities company; Destination Resort and Hotel Sdn Bhd; and Penerbangan Malaysia Bhd, known in English as Malaysia Airlines. She also spent several years in the investment division of Khazanah Nasional Bhd, the sovereign wealth fund of Malaysia.

Before entering the commercial sector, she trained as a chartered accountant in a public accounting firm in London in the United Kingdom, then moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur.
