The Marina Bay Sands casino resort in Singapore hosted during October the golfer Collin Morikawa, a six-time PGA Tour winner, for a series of community activities.
As per a recent announcement, the athlete joined Marina Bay Sands’s community engagement programme, Sands Cares, to take senior citizens on a trishaw ride around the Marina Bay area.
The activity was organised in partnership with Cycling Without Age Singapore, a local non-profit organisation.
“Together with a group of 21 Marina Bay Sands team members, Morikawa pedalled for a good cause around the scenic Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade and The Promontory areas,” said the complex’s promoter in a written announcement.
The casino resort is run by U.S.-based Las Vegas Sands Corp, which is also the parent of Macau gaming concessionaire Sands China Ltd.
In June last year, Las Vegas Sands announced Mr Morikawa as a Sands Champion Ambassador, in what it described as a “multi-year engagement” that would see the athlete join the company’s integrated resort programmes, prioritising youth development and community revitalization projects.
Mr Morikawa also took part in a “friendly culinary showdown” against Singaporean veteran radio DJ Glenn Ong, and local entrepreneur and social media personality Christabel Chua, at the Wakuda restaurant, judged by chef Tetsuya Wakuda.

The golfer said in prepared remarks: “It’s great to be back in Asia after a busy season. It was my first time riding a trishaw, and being able to connect with seniors through it, was both a fun and rewarding experience.”
“Meeting a culinary icon like chef Tetsuya was an incredible opportunity to combine my love for food and Japanese culture in the best way possible,” added Mr Morikawa.
