U.S.-based gaming supplier International Game Technology (IGT) has expanded its Powerbucks wide area progressive link to Nevada, linking progressive jackpot pools between different jurisdictions in the United States.
Powerbucks network games in Nevada casinos are now linked to gaming venues in New Jersey and Deadwood, South Dakota, the company said on Friday.
The launch of the multistate link comes after gaming regulators in Nevada and New Jersey passed regulations allowing slot jackpots to be linked across state lines.
“As the largest commercial gaming jurisdiction in the U.S., Nevada gives the Powerbucks network the critical mass needed to grow jackpot liquidity at an accelerated rate,” Joe Sigirst, IGT vice president of product development, said in the statement.
IGT added it has worked “very closely” with the Nevada Gaming Control Board to obtain all necessary approvals to take Powerbucks to that state. The company has introduced similar links for lottery markets and for tribal gaming properties, but it said the launch of Powerbucks in Nevada “marks the industry’s first multi-state progressive jackpot link in the commercial space”.
