Inspire Entertainment Resort, a complex with foreigner-only casino at Incheon in South Korea, says it conducted various outreach activities to mark the Chuseok holiday period in October.
Chuseok, also known as Hangawi, is a major South Korean holiday, often referred to as the mid-autumn harvest festival. It occurs on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunisolar calendar, on the full moon, and usually lasts for three days.
The casino firm invited in early October around 50 children and staff members from the Boramae Children’s Center, a child protection facility in Jung-gu, Incheon, to the resort for what it said was a “special cultural experience”.
That included a screening of “Minecraft: The Movie”; and the “Twilight Market”, an event where they enjoyed a variety of foods, mini concerts, and a flea market.
Inspire said it also donated traditional holiday foods to ensure the children and staff of the centre “enjoyed a warm and plentiful Chuseok”.
Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, Inspire hosted an event called “Our Miracle: A Day to Share Happiness”, inviting more than 130 families of children with disabilities from the Korean Red Cross Gyeongin Regional Rehabilitation Hospital to the resort.
“The event allowed families to relax and rejuvenate with an overnight stay at Inspire, enjoying various entertainment such as water activities and media art to recharge and create joyful memories,” stated the resort’s promoter in a recent press release.
The announcement quoted Wade Howk (pictured above), Inspire’s chief operating officer, as saying: “I was delighted to see the families of paediatric patients escape from their daily routines and reenergise at Inspire. We are dedicated to hosting community-focused invitation and experience programmes throughout the year, including during holidays, to instil hope in the local community.”
Inspire also said it had received the Incheon Mayor’s Commendation for Social Welfare Excellence in late September, acknowledging the resort “for the genuine dedication, sustainability, and trustworthiness of its CSR [corporate social responsibility] programmes”.

Hanna Lee (pictured, right), senior vice president of strategy marketing at Inspire, said in prepared remarks that it was “a tremendous honour” to see that the complex’s social contribution activities “resonated with Incheon citizens” and were “recognised by the city”.
“Moving forward, we will continue to engage closely with the community, carrying out warm and meaningful CSR efforts that truly make a difference,” she added.
