Lotte Tour Development Co Ltd, promoter of South Korea casino hotel complex Jeju Dream Tower (pictured in file photo), said its casino sales in February rose 44.3 percent year-on-year to approximately KRW32.63 billion (US$22.14 million).

Judged sequentially, last month’s casino sales were down 28.4 percent, according to a filing lodged on Tuesday with the Korea Exchange.

The number of February visitors to the resort’s casino stood at 43,914, which was 25.2 percent higher than the tally of 35,087 a year ago. However, this February’s casino-visit tally was a 17.2 percent decline on January’s 53,052 figure, according to supplementary data Lotte Tour filed on its website.

The February hold rate for table games at the property stood at 20.4 percent, higher than the 14.7 percent recorded a year ago, according to Lotte Tour’s supplementary data. The February table games hold rate was also higher than January’s 18.7 percent.

February sales from gaming machine operations were KRW1.77 billion, down 6.9 percent from a year ago, and also down 5.0 percent sequentially.

The casino operator also reported that February’s casino table drop – the amount paid by customers to purchase chips for table games – rose 7.7 percent year-on-year to KRW151.47 billion. The figure was however down 35.1 percent from January.

The company did not explain in the filing the variations in its latest reported sales figures.

The latest monthly results took Jeju Dream Tower’s aggregate casino sales for the first two months of this year to KRW78.23 billion, up 50.3 percent year-on-year. The aggregate casino table drop for the January and February period was KRW384.97 billion, up 47.1 percent from a year ago.
