Jeju Dream Tower’s July casino sales up 90pct y-o-y

Casino sales for the promoter of Jeju Dream Tower, a resort with foreigner-only casino (pictured) on Jeju island, South Korea, rose 90.1 percent year-on-year in July, to nearly KRW43.44 billion (US$31.4 million). The July tally was up 21.3 percent sequentially.

Casino sales are net sales after deducting from gross sales certain items including commissions paid to agents.

The information was given in a Monday filing to the Korea Exchange by  Jeju Dream Tower’s promoter, Lotte Tour Development Co Ltd.

Last month’s table game sales at the property were KRW41.57 billion, a gain of 99.1 percent on the prior-year reporting period, and up 21.0 percent from June.

Machine-game sales actually fell year-on-year in July this time, by 5.2 percent, to KRW1.87 billion. Relative to June, such sales went up 30.0 percent.

July’s hotel sales at the complex were KRW7.88 billion, a 14.8-percent decline year-on-year, but up 15.4 percent sequentially.

Casino sales at Jeju Dream Tower for the first seven months this year stood at just over KRW238.02 billion, up 49.3 percent year-on-year.

Cumulative hotel sales for January to July period were nearly KRW43.84 billion, down 10.7 percent year-on-year.

July’s casino table drop – the amount paid by customers to purchase chips for table games – went up 93.4 percent year-on-year and 9.7 percent month-on-month, to KRW240.56 billion.

Casino drop for the calendar year to July 31 was KRW1.26 trillion, a year-on-year gain of 52.9 percent.
