Macau 2026 concert-artist mix varied as venues work to tempt Chinese fans: local promoter

“A-list” musical artists from the Asia-Pacific region that did 2025 shows in Macau might not repeat that concert cycle this year, and Macau show organisers are sourcing for 2026 a variety of pop acts that could still potentially fill performance venues. So suggested Lawrence Che Fok Sang, chief executive and a founder at Macau-based entertainment production company Chessman Entertainment & Production Co Ltd, in remarks to GGRAsia.

Macau saw in 2024 and again in 2025 notable growth in the number of concerts held in the city , noted Mr Che. Many of those were at arenas in Macau casino resorts, though a number were at smaller-capacity venues.

Some 2025 highlights for the casino-resort sector were Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung, and South Korean pop artist G-Dragon. But such “world tour stops” in Macau were part of last year’s cycle, said Mr Che.

This year “show organisers would try to bring in concerts or shows from other types of artist – who still have potential to fill the venues – and test the market here,” he explained.

Within the first three months of this year, the 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena at Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd’s Cotai resort Galaxy Macau, is hosting a variety of pop acts.

The lineup includes: Super Junior; Dylan Wang; Jordan Chan; RIIZE; Tian Zhen; Silence Wang; aespa and Janice Vidal.

The 14,000-capacity Venetian Arena at Sands China Ltd’s The Venetian Macao has scheduled first-quarter concerts from acts including: Raymond Lam; Steve Chou; Sally Yeh & George Lam; Jane Zhang; Treasure; NCT Wish; and ATEEZ.

The information for those two arenas – the largest private-sector venues in the city – is based on GGRAsia’s checks of publicity materials.

The 2024 and 2025 concert surge coincided with the “post-pandemic spending boom” on entertainment and shows by mainland China consumers, Mr Che told GGRAsia, referring to Macau’s largest tourism feeder market.

That visitor segment was now “more cautious” on its concert spending, he observed. “That is a consumption trend observed in other [service] sectors,” said Mr Che.

“They [mainlanders] became more selective in choosing the concerts or shows they would like to watch,” the Chessman chief executive added.

In a November report, banking institution Citigroup suggested that hosting concerts offered Macau casino operators the chance of an important boost to their gaming revenue performance and potential gain in gaming market share.

In 2025 Galaxy Arena hosted concerts from regional pop artists including: Taeyang; J-Hope; NCT 127; G-Dragon; Jacky Cheung; Eason Chan; and Jackson Wang.

Last year the Venetian Arena hosted acts including: Richie Jen; 2NE1; Sammi Cheung; The Chainsmokers; Sandy Lam; and Twice.

A number of those arena-based concerts was sold out, GGRAsia observed from their respective ticket-sales announcements.
