Macau received 873,229 visitors in a five-day period of this year’s Labour Day holidays, showed preliminary data. The update was given by Macau’s Public Security Police, the agency responsible for monitoring the city’s immigration checkpoints.

As per the data, the city received nearly 174,646 visitors per day between May 1 and May 5, the holiday period designated by the State Council on the Chinese mainland, Macau’s main tourism feeder market.

The 2026 holiday season’s aggregate figure represents a 2.7 percent increase compared with the five-day holiday period of the 2025 Labour Day break, when Macau recorded 850,034 visitor arrivals.

Saturday (May 2) recorded the highest single-day tally this time, with 247,729 visitors. According to the police, this set a new all-time single-day visitor arrival record for Macau.

The police data do not include a breakdown of inbound visitors by source market.

However, they show that the city’s Border Gate – the land boundary crossing between Macau and Zhuhai, the nearest mainland city in Guangdong – was the busiest, handling more than 409,300 visitor arrivals during the holiday period this year.

The second-busiest boundary checkpoint was the Macau boundary crossing at Hengqin, which recorded 166,138 arrivals, while the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge crossing handled an aggregate of 130,021 visitor arrivals for the period, showed the data.
