SJM Resorts Ltd, the Macau casino operating unit of Hong Kong-listed SJM Holdings Ltd, hosted the “SJM Macao Open 2025 Community Golf Fun Day” on October 12, at the Outdoor Plaza of casino hotel Ponte 16.

The event featured Taichi Kho, a Hong Kong professional golfer who plays on the Asian Tour, and Kelvin Si Ngai, a Macau player who turned professional before last year’s edition of the SJM Macao Open.

“The golfers interacted closely with participants from local schools, sharing their career journeys and patiently guiding them through chipping drills, demonstrating the fundamentals of the sport,” said the casino firm in a press release.

The announcement cited Mr Kho as saying: “It is especially meaningful for me to return to Macau and share the joy of golf with the participants here. The sport has helped me appreciate the importance of perseverance and focus, and I hope to pass these values on to more people.”

Mr Si said sharing his “passion for golf” with “young aspiring players” reminded him of the “journey I’ve taken in this sport”.

“I believe that golf teaches us valuable lessons in discipline and perseverance, and I hope to inspire these students to embrace the game and all that it offers. Together, we can cultivate a love for golf that lasts a lifetime,” he added.

The event “generated an enthusiastic turnout, with participants actively engaging in three featured golf challenges,” stated SJM, adding that it also prepared gift packs for the participants.

The casino concessionaire said the event “not only offered diverse sporting experiences for the community, it also continued SJM’s commitment to promoting golf and deepening its popularisation”.

SJM Resorts said in 2023 that it would be the title sponsor of the Macao Golf Open for the following three years.

This year’s edition of the golf tournament is to be held from October 16 to October 19 at the Macau Golf and Country Club.

The SJM Macao Open 2025 is Jointly organised by Macau’s Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, and IMG, and is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Macau Golf Association.
