Macau gaming tax revenue at US$6.34bn in 1H2026

The Macau government collected approximately MOP8.67 billion (US$1.07 billion) in fiscal revenue from gaming in June, according to the latest data released by the city’s Financial Services Bureau.

The figure was up 13.3 percent from the MOP7.65 billion recorded in May, the data showed.

For the first half of 2026, the gaming tax tally reached MOP51.19 billion, a 13.1-percent increase from a year earlier.

Under Macau’s 10-year gaming concession system, which came into effect on January 1, 2023, the effective tax on casino GGR is 40 percent.

The latest data from the Financial Services Bureau show that gaming taxes accounted for approximately 87.6 percent of the Macau government’s MOP58.42 billion in current revenue recorded in the six months to June 30.

The tax-take figures for a given calendar period and the city’s casino GGR during the same time frame are not directly comparable for several reasons.

These include the fact that there is typically a delay between the point at which GGR is recorded by Macau’s casino operators and the point at which the government records the corresponding tax payment.

The Macau government expects to collect nearly MOP92.53 billion in gaming tax revenue this year. The tally for the first half of 2026 represented 55.3 percent of that amount.

The city recorded a fiscal surplus of MOP13.28 billion for the first six months of 2026, up 14.7 percent year-on-year.
