Macau’s visitor arrivals for March rose 10.6 percent year-on-year, to circa 3.39 million, with international visitors totalling 276,455, up 18.4 percent from a year earlier, stated the city’s government in a Friday update.

In the first three months of 2026, the city welcomed 11.21 million visitors, a 13.7-percent increase from the prior-year period.

Same-day visitors in the first quarter amounted to 7.00 million, up 20.3 percent from the prior-year period. The aggregate for overnight visitors – regarded by investment analysts as typically the most valuable to the city’s tourism sector – came to nearly 4.21 million, 4.1-percent higher than a year ago.

Average stay-length shortened by 0.1 day year-on-year, to 1.0 day, with that for overnight visitors (2.2 days) unchanged during the January to March period.

The portion of visitors from the Chinese mainland increased 16.4 percent year-on-year, to nearly 8.39 million, or 74.8 percent of all visitors in the three months to March 31.

In the first quarter, mainlanders arriving to Macau under the exit-permit system for independent Chinese travellers, known as the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS), accounted for just over 4.75-million entries, up 18.4 percent from a year earlier.

Visitors from Hong Kong (1.78 million) and Taiwan (285,464) in the first quarter rose 1.8 percent and 29.1 percent year-on-year respectively.

International visitors in the first three months of 2026 tallied 755,756 – or 6.7 percent of the total – up 10.7 percent year-on-year.
