August visitor arrivals rose 15.5 percent year-on-year in Macau, setting a new monthly record at nearly 4.22 million. Tourists from the Chinese mainland accounted for 77.2 percent of the total, at just under 3.26-million arrivals.
That is according to data issued on Friday by Macau’s Statistics and Census Bureau.
The tally of same-day visitors and overnight visitors to the city in August rose 25.1 percent and 3.4 percent year-on-year respectively, to just over 2.55 million and nearly 1.67 million.
Average length of stay held steady year-on-year at 1.1 days. The average for overnight visitors was unchanged at 2.3 days, while that for same-day visitors stood at 0.3 of a day.
The aggregate number of visitors in August from the Chinese mainland increased 18.4 percent year-on-year, showed the data.
International visitors totalled 190,363 in August, up 17.3 percent year-on-year. They were 4.5 percent of last month’s total arrivals.
Casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) in August rose by 12.2 percent year on year, standing at nearly MOP22.16 billion, marking the best monthly performance since January 2020, just before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to official data.
In the first eight months of 2025, Macau recorded nearly 26.90-million arrivals from all markets, up 15.0 percent year-on-year.
