International casino developer Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd hosted a “Melco Volunteer Recognition Ceremony 2025” on July 23. The event (pictured) was at the group’s Studio City casino resort in Macau, and aimed to honour Melco Resorts employees across the city for their support and dedication to serving the community.
More than 2,000 staff members and their children who participated in company volunteering activities between 2023 and 2024 were invited to the event.
“Simple Acts of Kindness” is Melco Resorts’ signature volunteer initiative in Macau. “Since 2007, the company has recorded over 200,000 participations, contributing more than 365,000 hours of service through a wide range of volunteer activities that strive to create a meaningful and lasting impact across different areas of society, benefitting over 570,000 individuals,” the firm said in a press release.
As part of the event, Pei Chengxian, president of the Macau Youth Volunteer Association, delivered a speech reaffirming the importance and role of volunteerism in society – from the perspective of volunteers, supporting organisations, beneficiaries, and the broader community.
The press release also quoted Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, chairman and chief executive of Melco Resorts, as saying: “Volunteering is a powerful way to create meaningful change, and caring for the community has always been core to Melco’s culture and vision.”
He added: “We are grateful for the team’s dedication in engaging and helping the community. We also extend our gratitude to our partnering associations, helping us extend our reach within society.”
With the collective participation and support of the firm’s volunteer team, the “Simple Acts of Kindness” volunteer initiative has gained widespread external recognition, winning international awards such as “Best Overall CSR Programme” and “Best CSR Initiative”, Melco Resorts said in its release.
