Casino operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd hosted on March 22 the inaugural “Melco Community Skating Experience Workshop” at its newly-launched “Studio City Sk8te Park”.

There was also what Studio City said was the first international skateboarding competition in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, called “Melco Style Presents: 2025 FISE Battle of the Champions”. The latter was at the Studio City Event Center within the property.

Studio City Sk8te Park is located outdoors in the shadow of the resort’s figure-of-eight Ferris wheel, known as the Golden Reel. The Sk8te Park features an ‘8’-shaped dual bowl setup, said to offer Macau’s biggest skateboarding bowl.

The overall Studio City property is majority-owned by Melco Resorts.

The community workshop aimed “to help maximise local youths’ potential by providing them with experience and exposure to the increasingly popular sport of skateboarding,” stated the casino firm in a Tuesday press release.

The workshop was held alongside Melco’s “2025 FISE Battle of the Champions” event.

Hosted in collaboration with FISE and supported by Melco’s “Parent and Child” volunteers, the workshop was attended by about 30 young people and family members, drawn from community partners.

“With the support of a professional coach, participants were given the opportunity to try on skateboarding equipment, and… master the basics of the sport, including positions and control,” said the company.

The announcement quoted Akiko Takahashi, executive vice president and chief of staff to Melco chairman and chief executive, as saying: “We hope the exposure to the sport, both through the workshop and the world tour event featuring many top skateboarding athletes, will prove to be stimulating and valuable, encouraging [them] to follow their dreams and maximise their potential.”
