A total of 100 people took part in a training programme on promotion of responsible gambling, organised by Macau casino operator MGM China Holdings Ltd and local labour groupings.
It was the second edition of the “Responsible Gaming Ambassador Training Program,” according to an October 20 press release from MGM China.
Tina Wong, director of responsible gaming at the company, was cited as saying the initiative was part of the firm’s long-standing commitment to such effort, to promote “healthy financial management and rational entertainment”.
The other organisers of the programme were the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, and the Macao Leisure Industry Employees Home.
Leong Sun Iok, president of the Macao Leisure Industry Employees Home, was indirectly cited as saying that long-term collaboration among responsible gaming stakeholders had enabled systematic education across all sectors.
As per the press release, the Responsible Gaming Ambassador Training Program aims to equip participants with advanced knowledge and skills in relation to responsible gambling topics. The programme covered Macau’s own public policies on responsible gambling, as well as gambling psychology, symptoms of gambling disorder, and available support services.
MGM China stated the group “remains committed to deepening collaboration with community partners and expanding cross-sector efforts to reinforce responsible gaming education”.
It added: “By joining forces with more industrial partners, the company aims to strengthen public awareness of gambling-related risks – for the sake of building a healthier Macau.”
