Philippines-listed gaming technology provider PhilWeb Corp announced on Thursday a “strategic partnership” with Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc, the operator of the Okada Manila casino resort (pictured), to launch an online gaming platform under the brand “Okada Play”.
Under the deal, PhilWeb said it will deliver a “comprehensive online gaming platform” system for Okada Play, “encompassing a full suite of gaming content, platform technology, customer service infrastructure, and marketing support”.
“The partnership marks a significant step in expanding Okada Manila’s footprint into the digital gaming space, reinforcing its position as a leading premium integrated resort in the Philippines,” PhilWeb stated.
Nobuki Sato, president and chief operating officer of Okada Manila, said in prepared remarks that Okada Play marked a “strategic step” in scaling the group’s “digital gaming presence and reinforcing our leadership in the market”.
Mr Sato added: “By expanding our platform portfolio through this partnership, we are able to reach new player segments while continuing to elevate the premium digital experience associated with the Okada brand.”
For full-year 2025, gross gaming revenue (GGR) at Okada Manila – a complex ultimately controlled by Japanese conglomerate Universal Entertainment Corp – stood at nearly PHP27.81 billion (US$462.0 million), down 20.1 percent from the previous year.
The property’s adjusted segmental earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at PHP4.27 billion last year, a decline of 44.0 percent from 2024.
Thursday’s release said the launch of Okada Play was expected to support the brand’s “broader digital transformation strategy, enhancing customer engagement” beyond the group’s land-based property.
The new online platform would also be “complementing” Okada Manila’s “existing online platforms and capturing new revenue opportunities” within the country’s regulated online gaming ecosystem, per the update.
The announcement cited Brian Ng, president of PhilWeb, as saying: “This partnership reflects our continued commitment to providing best-in-class gaming solutions to industry leaders.”
He added: “By working with Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc, we are enabling the extension of a globally recognised luxury gaming brand into the online space through a robust and scalable platform.”
The release said the collaboration aimed to “deliver a seamless and engaging user experience to a growing base of digital players” in the Philippines.
The document added that the partnership highlighted “the growing convergence of land-based and digital gaming, with technology and premium content playing a central role in shaping the future of the sector”.
In early February, PhilWeb launched the “Hann Online” gaming platform following a partnership with Hann Casino Resort, a complex at Clark Freeport Zone in the Philippines run by Hann Philippines Inc.
PhilWeb announced last week changes to its board following a management-led takeover, with a new slate of appointees joining the company’s leadership.
