The Primorye gambling zone, in the Russian Far East, welcomed 763,180 visitors in 2024, according to local authorities. The figure was up by around 17 percent year-on-year, the state-backed Primorsky Krai Development Corp stated on its official website.
The highest monthly tally for the period – more than 70,715 arrivals – was recorded in November.
The development corporation said that, among the visitors to the Primorye gambling zone in 2024, approximately 14 percent were identified as foreign tourists, mainly from Uzbekistan (more than 47,000 people).
The release quoted Julia Yakush, head of the investment project department at the development corporation, noting that, despite “economic and geopolitical challenges” and the lack of international flights to Primorye, annual visitor numbers had recorded the fourth consecutive year of growth, now standing at 2.6 times higher than in the pre-pandemic year 2019.
There are currently two casino resorts in operation in the Primorye gambling zone, a casino development area located 50 kilometres (31 miles) from Russia’s Pacific port of Vladivostok. The Tigre de Cristal property (pictured in a file photo) is majority-owned by Summit Ascent Holdings Ltd, a Hong Kong-listed firm controlled by troubled LET Group Holdings Ltd. The Shambala casino resort, operated by an entity called Shambala CJSC, was the second casino to open there.
According to Primorsky Krai Development Corporation, a total of 10 plots of land remains available in the Primorye gambling zone, amounting to an aggregate area of 90.2 hectares (222.9 acres). Another 16 plots of land – covering a total of 102.6 ha – have been subleased.
