Inspire Entertainment Resort, a complex with foreigner-only casino at Incheon in South Korea, says it has participated in a volunteer activity dubbed “Happy Box”, with its employees helping to pack boxes – ahead of the Lunar New Year season – for local children at risk of skipping meals.
In collaboration with a social network called “Happy Alliance”, Inspire said in a press release that it delivered hand-packed ‘Happy Boxes’ to support 230 children across four municipalities in Incheon.
The ‘Happy Box’ campaign is described as a collaborative effort by member companies to “provide practical support to children around the country who are at risk of skipping meals and to strengthen the child welfare safety net within local communities”.
In order to provide “broader support for the dietary stability of local children,” the company said it made an “additional donation to sponsor meals for households with children at risk of skipping meals,” providing a total of KRW20 million [US$13,828] for the initiative.
Jongmo Yang, an employee representative of Inspire’s labour-management council, said in prepared remarks: “The ‘Happy Box’ volunteer activity was especially meaningful because many employees were able to join.”
The property’s promoter stated that it “consistently engages” in social contribution activities to support local children.
The company said it implemented last year “a variety of community-centred activities for shared growth,” including inviting local children for cultural experiences at the resort, developing educational programmes and providing scholarship programmes, as well as delivering donations to a child welfare organisation.
