Macau casino concessionaire Sands China Ltd says 30,000 hygiene kits were assembled and delivered to international social enterprise “Clean the World”, as part of the annual ‘Clean the World’ initiative.
Circa 330 volunteers from Sands China took part in the effort. There were also volunteers from Macau’s University of Saint Joseph, and from non-profit organisations Sustaincia and Oxfam in the city, along with the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao, as per a written announcement.
The casino firm said it was the 12th consecutive year the company has partnered with local social service organisations to support the ‘Clean the World’ initiative.
“A total of 26,000 emergency response hygiene kits will be delivered to the Philippines, while 4,000 will be distributed to 11 Macao non-governmental organisations, and three charitable and educational institutions in Hong Kong,” said Sands China.
“The kits provide essential hygiene supplies to families in need and promote the concept of resource recycling to younger generations,” the firm added.
“Sands China is proud to have been the first integrated operator in Macau to partner with Clean the World to produce hygiene kits,” said Grant Chum, the company’s chief executive and executive director, in prepared remarks.
“Since 2014, we have continuously responded to our parent company’s call to action, participating in this meaningful initiative for 12 consecutive years,” he added.
Mr Chum stated that since 2014, Sands China and its community partners have prepared “more than 415,000 kits to support vulnerable groups in Macau and neighbouring regions, helping prevent the spread of disease and promoting environmental protection through recycling”.
The company and its partners have recycled about 345 tonnes of hotel-amenity materials since 2014, noted the casino operator.
Shawn Seipler, founder and chief executive of Clean the World, was cited as saying: “It’s truly inspiring to witness Sands China and the Macau community come together once again to support families in need. By assembling 30,000 hygiene kits, we’re not just providing essential supplies, we’re delivering hope, dignity, and the power of collective action.”
