Macau casino concessionaire Sands China Ltd held a presentation to showcase its “Youth Talent Development System” to various departments of the Macau government, as well as to local educational institutions and industry partners.
The training programme – described as a “long-established, comprehensive, and multi-stage talent development strategy” – is said to address the “diverse needs” of local young people in Macau “at four different stages: secondary school, university, post-graduation, and employment”.
The initiative includes a three-year secondary school programme focusing on stage technology and event production; a “Career Experience Opportunity” programme; and a diverse range of courses under the group’s Sands China Academy. The presentation about Sands China’s initiative was in mid-September, according to a recent press release.
The announcement cited Grant Chum Kwan Lock, the company’s chief executive and executive director, as saying: “We have been working closely with various government departments, secondary schools, and higher education institutions over the years to build a youth talent development system that covers different growth stages and provides progressive support for Macau’s youth in career planning.”
He added: “Through a clear and systematic development framework, we hope to enable young people of Macau to find their own paths.”
Sands China also held in mid-September a graduation ceremony for 154 young people who completed the company’s summer internship programme at the group’s properties.
These included students who trained in various Sands China departments through the summer internship programme organised by Macau’s Education and Youth Development Bureau, and those who completed the Summer Trainee Programme at Sands China, said the casino firm.
