SJM Resorts Ltd, the Macau casino operating unit of Hong Kong-listed SJM Holdings Ltd, has donated HKD3.0 million (US$384,682) to support the construction of the Xinwan Town Healthcare Centre in Xiushui county, in southeast China’s Jiangxi province.
A recent press release cited Daisy Ho, managing director of SJM, as saying that the company was “honoured” to support that “worthy cause”, due to healthcare capacity being a “cornerstone of rural development”.
“The Xinwan Town Healthcare Centre, upon completion, will provide a comprehensive, quality health service platform for the local residents, safeguarding their health and offering them more convenient access to medical treatment,” Ms Ho noted.
She added: “SJM, as a responsible Macau enterprise, will continue to promote exchanges and cooperation with the Mainland in alignment with the national development agenda.”
A signing ceremony was held on December 30 in Xiushui county.
The company said the donation was in response to the “joint efforts” of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) government and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR “to promote rural revitalisation in Xiushui”.
After relocation and construction, “the new healthcare infrastructure will significantly improve the medical environment and capacity of Xiushui, while facilitating more convenient access for the local residents,” SJM Resorts said in the update.
