SJM Resorts Ltd, the Macau operations unit of Hong Kong-listed casino firm SJM Holdings Ltd, has organised a series of community care initiatives to celebrate the Lunar New Year with society members in need.
From January 13 to 22, SJM mobilised 70 members of the group’s volunteer team to launch the “Lunar New Year Charity Operation” in Macau.
They visited underprivileged families, senior citizens living alone, and students from organisations and charity groups, “reaching more than 2,500 people”.
The casino firm also organised a tour for senior citizens from the Centro de Convívio da Obra das Mães on January 17.
The following day, SJM invited members from a number of families affiliated with the “Salvation Army Joy Family Integrated Service Center” and “Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service of Macau” to visit the Grand Lisboa property.
The event “aimed at fostering communication and interaction between parents and children, creating a heartwarming holiday experience filled with laughter and memorable moments,” stated the company.
SJM also held an event at the Grand Lisboa Palace resort, to welcome the Year of Snake, with more than 1,200 spring couplets of poetry being written and distributed in about two hours.
SJM also invited some local organisations to arrange charity sales in the employee areas of Grand Lisboa Palace, Grand Lisboa, and Jai Alai Oceanus. The funds raised by the initiative will be used to support those organisations’ operation and development.
