SJM Resorts Ltd, the Macau operations unit of Hong Kong-listed casino firm SJM Holdings Ltd, has partnered with Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office, to launch a “Youth Handicraft Instructor Training Programme”.
The initiative aims to encourage “young individuals to excel and [build] a foundation for their… career development,” stated the casino firm in a press release in early September.
Young people that took part in last year’s vocational training workshops “joined the handicraft programme this year as instructors,” to teach people of all ages “how to create art with preserved flowers,” said SJM.
The activity was held at the Grand Lisboa Palace resort, the company’s flagship property in Cotai.
It added: “SJM hopes that through this training programme, youths can improve their teaching skills, gain good experience,” and also instil confidence” in themselves, and “garner a sense of accomplishment as they work toward building a foundation for their… career development.”
The organisers invited 23 families linked to the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau and 20 elderly individuals from Tung Sin Tong Elderly Activity Center, to participate in the workshops during August.
SJM also awarded certificates of appreciation and souvenirs, to five mentors from the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office.
“SJM will continue to collaborate with local organisations to host more diversified training programmes designed to cultivate local talents and inject positive energy into society,” said the firm in the release.
