Suntrust Resort Holdings Inc says the opening of the “main hotel casino” (pictured in an artist’s rendering) at Westside City, in the Philippine capital Manila, is now “targeted for third quarter of 2026”. The information was in a Thursday filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange, in a reply to questions from the exchange.
In November, the firm had mentioned that gaming and hotel operations at the complex, part of Manila’s Entertainment City zone of large commercial gaming resorts, were expected to start in the fourth quarter this year.
The US$1.25 billion property is to feature about 400 rooms, and a casino venue that will offer 400 gaming tables and 1,200 slot machines for both mass and VIP markets, according to previous corporate information.
In Thursday’s announcement, Suntrust said that based on the project implementation plan approved by the country’s gaming regulator, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), “completion and opening of the Westside City main casino is targeted for third quarter of 2026”.
It added: “Currently, Suntrust is in the process of reviewing plans and actual construction status which may impact its previous launch estimate of December 2025.”
The company said that as of March 31, construction of structural works and major facade systems up to roof level had “been completed”.
“The mechanical, electrical, and plumbing and fire protection systems in major plantrooms have been substantially completed and part of the system has commenced testing and commissioning,” stated the firm.
“Architectural builders and fit-out works, external civil and landscape works are in progress. Likewise, defects check, and punch lists have been commenced on several back-of-house areas,” it added.
The company also said it expected a “deferral of revenue generation” due to delays in launching its operations.
Suntrust is indirectly controlled by troubled casino investor Hong Kong-listed LET Group Holdings Ltd, a firm chaired by businessman Andrew Lo Kai Bong. Mr Lo is also president of Suntrust, following the retirement in June of the previous president David Chua Ming Huat.
The gaming licence for the casino at the Westside City project is being supplied by Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, the unit of Alliance Global Group Inc that runs the Newport World Resorts casino complex in Manila.
