Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, operator of the Newport World Resorts casino and leisure complex in the Philippine capital Manila, said the amount of the group’s promotional allowances stood at PHP5.7 billion (US$96.6 million) in the nine months to September 30, down circa 16 percent from a year earlier.
“The decline in promotional allowances was due to lower gaming points, rebates and revenue share,” according to the quarterly report published on Friday by the firm’s parent, Philippine conglomerate Alliance Global Group Inc.
In an earlier press release, the parent had said Travellers International’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) reached PHP23.5 billion in the first nine months of 2025, a 3.3-percent decline from a year ago.
In Friday’s filing, Alliance Global said the decline in GGR for the period was “primarily due to lower volumes across all segments, despite an increase in win rates for cash tables and VIP”.
Travellers International recorded net revenues of PHP22.9 billion in the January to September period, flat from a year earlier.
“Despite this, GPR [gross profit ratio] improved significantly to 47 percent, from 42 percent in the same period last year, due to cost optimisation strategies related to gaming operations,” according to the filing.
Aside from the decline in the amount of promotional allowances, the company’s direct costs fell 7 percent year-on-year, to PHP12.4 billion in the reporting period.
The casino firm’s operating expenses increased 12 percent year-on-year, to PHP7.7 billion, “driven mainly by marketing expenses and depreciation”.
Travellers International reported earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of PHP5.6 billion in the nine months to September 30, a 3-percent year-on-year growth.
Net profit attributable to owners in the reporting period stood at PHP651 million, compared to PHP497 million a year ago, as per Friday’s filing.
Newport World Resorts currently has five international hotel brands: Marriott Manila Hotel, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Hilton Manila, Hotel Okura Manila, and Holiday Inn Express Manila. It offers a total of 2,742 guest rooms.
Alliance Global said in June that it planned to allocate PHP5 billion this year to Travellers International, for “ongoing expansion projects” at Newport World Resorts. That includes the development of a 157-room The Narra Palm Hotel and Villa.
