Genting Singapore Ltd’s chief financial officer (CFO), Lee Shi Ruh, has been appointed the group’s president and chief operating officer (COO), with effect from August 1, according to a written announcement. Ms Lee had served as CFO of Genting Singapore since 2010.

The company runs the Resorts World Sentosa casino complex (pictured), one of Singapore’s two casino resorts. The firm is a subsidiary of Malaysian conglomerate Genting Bhd.

In June, Ms Lee took on the role of chief executive of Resorts World at Sentosa Pte Ltd, the operating entity of Resorts World Sentosa.

In a Friday announcement, Genting Singapore said Ms Lee “will be responsible for driving execution of strategic initiatives, operational performance, and sustainable growth” across the group’s businesses.

She will report to Lim Kok Thay, executive chairman and acting CEO of Genting Singapore.

The casino firm also said on Friday that Ang Suat Ching, currently CFO of Resorts World at Sentosa Pte, has been appointed CFO of Genting Singapore, replacing Ms Lee. Ms Ang, who joined the group in 2024, will concurrently retain her role at Resorts World at Sentosa Pte.

The update cited Mr Lim as saying: “These appointments reflect our commitment to leadership renewal as the group enters its next phase of growth.”

He added: “Shi Ruh brings a proven track record of sound decision-making, strategic discipline and a clear understanding of the group’s long-term priorities, which will be invaluable in her expanded role as president and COO of the company.

Mr Lim also said that Ms Ang’s financial expertise would “support” the group’s “long-term value creation”.

In a separate filing on Friday, Genting Singapore also announced that Nanami Kasasaki was stepping down as chief corporate officer of the company and as a director of Resorts World at Sentosa Pte.

These changes follow the retirement of Tan Hee Teck, who stepped down as CEO of Genting Singapore in May.

Genting Singapore is opening new attractions this year, as part of Resorts World Sentosa’s expansion, known as RWS 2.0.

The company’s board had approved a total investment of about SDG6.80 billion (US$5.27 billion currently) to upgrade and expand the casino complex.

Resorts World Sentosa is to launch the 183-room The Laurus hotel, part of The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts stable, in the third quarter of this year..

A revamped retail area, dubbed “WEAVE”, began opening in early July, while the Singapore Oceanarium opened to the public in late July.

In mid-November last year the company broke ground for a new waterfront development at the complex. The firm expects that expansion to be completed in 2030.
