DigiPlus halts Brazil online gaming platform, says preparing for local game in early 2026

Philippines-listed and -licensed online gaming operator DigiPlus Interactive Corp announced on Friday what it described as a “strategic pause” of its first Brazilian brand, GamePlus. The suspension of operations took effect immediately.

The announcement came weeks after September 22, when DigiPlus launched GamePlus – its first international brand – in the South American nation.

“Over the past three weeks, DigiPlus has used the soft-launch period as a live learning laboratory, capturing valuable insights into Brazilian player behaviour, cultural preferences, and entertainment dynamics,” the firm said in a press release.

It added: “These findings will be instrumental in sharpening the company’s research and development and guiding the design of a uniquely local game experience.”

The firm did not provide details on the performance of GamePlus during the three weeks it was active.

The release cited Eusebio Tanco, chairman of DigiPlus, as saying: “We are taking the strategic step to pause GamePlus in Brazil so we can come back stronger with a digital entertainment offering that is not only locally relevant but also resonates deeply with Brazilian culture and entertainment habits.”

The firm stated that the temporary pause “forms part of DigiPlus’ long-term strategy to prioritise quality, cultural resonance, and sustainability”.

It said that teams in its Philippines headquarters and in Brazil were “now channelling their efforts toward the development of a self-developed, best-in-class, and locally innovative product offering slated for a full-scale relaunch in early 2026”.

In the Philippines, DigiPlus operates BingoPlus, described as the country’s first government-approved online bingo platform. It also runs ArenaPlus, a sportsbook, and GameZone, a platform for casual and arcade gaming.

Last week, the firm announced that it had signed an exclusive partnership agreement with Philippine bills payment service provider Bayad “to expand over-the-counter or physical payment options” for players of DigiPlus’s online platforms in the Asian country.

DigiPlus is also continuing with its plans for international expansion beyond Brazil. In late September, the company said it had “formally filed” three online-related licence applications with the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) in South Africa.
