Occupational Safety and Health Month 2025 wraps at Sands China

Sands China Ltd recently held its Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Month 2025.

The initiative actually ran for six weeks, from October 17 to November 28, noted the Macau casino operator.

It included an OSH Month Showcase on November 4, featuring staff health check-ups (pictured) at The Venetian Macao’s back-of-house team member area.

This year’s activities there and at other Sands China properties – namely The Parisian Macao, The Londoner Macao, and Sands Macao – centred on five themes. They were Health Index, Healthy Eating, OSH Awareness, Exercise, and a new element for this year’s edition: Inner Wellness.

“Employees are the most valuable asset of any enterprise,” said Paulo Cheong, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China, in a December 25 press release.

He added: “Sands China firmly believes that the safety and health of our 27,000 team members is the driving force behind the company’s sustainable development.

“As the largest private employer in Macau, we prioritise team members’ well-being through a focus on safety, health, and prevention.”

The 2025 edition included health screening roadshows, expert-led seminars, practical workshops, traffic safety education, and vaccination services, along with health check-ups, stated the firm.

The overall aim was to encourage Sands China workers to reduce safety and health risks in the workplace and to exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, and regularly self-monitor personal health.

Risk assessment of common chronic diseases was added this year, with advanced artificial intelligence retinal scan technology to assess dozens of health risk indicators related to eye health and to the cardiovascular, endocrine, metabolic, and nervous systems, giving team members comprehensive early warnings for health risks.

A number of government departments and community organisations supported OSH Month 2025 and attended the November 4 OSH Showcase.

Sands China also collaborated with Kiang Wu Hospital and the University of Macau to conduct health checks for chronic diseases and provide personalised health management recommendations to company team members.
