U.S.-based Scientific Games Corp on Tuesday announced that it has extended the contract with Pacific Online Systems Corp through July 2018 for the supply and maintenance of an electronic lottery system in Visayas and Mindanao, in the Philippines.

Under the three-year extension, Scientific Games will supply 1,500 of its new ‘Wave’ lottery terminals to the Philippine market this month, the company said in a press release.

Pacific Online Systems is controlled by a subsidiary of Belle Corp, an investor in the City of Dreams Manila casino resort. The scheme, which had an official opening in February, is operated by a unit of Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd.

The core business of Pacific Online Systems – according to a website of that company – is to provide operating and management systems for the Philippine gaming industry, including “technical and market expertise” for the distribution of lottery products in the country in partnership with the state-run Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Scientific Games has provided products and services to Pacific Online Systems since 2005. In addition to systems and retail technology, the firm also supplies instant games and an instant ticket validation system to the Philippines-based company, it said.

“Scientific Games has demonstrated a strong commitment to our systems technology over the last decade, and we are pleased to continue working together to grow lottery sales in the Philippines,” Willy Ocier, president of Pacific Online Systems, was quoted saying in the release. Mr Ocier is also vice chairman of Belle Corp.

He added: “The new terminals installed through this contract extension will allow us to retire some of our older terminals and provide our retailers with advanced technology that drives efficiencies and makes it easy and convenient for retailers to sell lottery games.”

Commenting on the deal, Michael Conforti, president of corporate development and global strategic accounts for Scientific Games, said: “We appreciate the professionalism and creativity exhibited by Pacific Online Systems and its leadership team, and we look forward to supporting their numerous growth initiatives over the next several years.”
