Macau-based casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd has confirmed that Las Vegas casino operations veteran Scott Kreeger has joined the firm. The company told GGRAsia that Mr Kreeger would oversee phase four of its flagship casino resort Galaxy Macau, located on Cotai.
Mr Kreeger “has been appointed as director – operations development, new resort, at Galaxy Entertainment, and will be responsible for the project launching and operations development of the company’s phase four project,” the casino operator told GGRAsia in an emailed statement.
The newly-hired executive has extensive experience of gaming operations on the Las Vegas Strip, in Clark County, Nevada, the heart of the modern industry in the United States’ gaming hub. He was most recently president and chief operating officer of the casino hotel SLS Las Vegas, He resigned last month. At the time, it was announced he was moving to a new post outside Las Vegas, but the firm’s identity had not been disclosed.
“Mr Kreeger has over 25 years of extensive leadership experience at senior levels gained from the gaming industry,” Galaxy Entertainment said.
It added: “We believe that with his wealth of industry knowledge, strong leadership and pre-opening experience, Mr Kreeger will play a crucial role in… Galaxy Entertainment’s continued success and in contributing towards the overall development of Macau.”
Galaxy Entertainment said in an October filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that it hoped to start “site preparation” for phase four of Galaxy Macau in 2017. It added the facility would have “substantial floor area allocated to non-gaming and primarily targeting MICE [meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions], entertainment and family facilities”. The firm is said to be currently in the early stages of development of phase three of Galaxy Macau.
Galaxy Entertainment announced in September 2015 the appointment of Kevin Kelley as its chief operating officer, Macau. At the time, it was said one of his tasks would be to focus on development of phases three and four of Galaxy Macau.
