Okada Manila power interruption affected casino

Casino operations at Okada Manila were affected on Tuesday, according to the venue, by what was described as a “power interruption”.

Disruption to electrical power supply lasted for nearly six hours in total, although a press statement from the casino resort, a property located in the Philippine capital, didn’t clarify whether casino operations had been affected for a portion or the whole of that period, or the reason for the problem.

GGRAsia emailed Okada Manila representatives seeking clarification on those points, but had not received a reply by the time the story went online.

Okada Manila did indicate in its Tuesday release that hotel and food and beverage operations were also affected by the issue.

“Okada Manila reports that the property experienced power interruption at 4.15pm in certain areas due to technical problems. Power was restored by 10pm. Hotel, food and beverage and casino operations have already resumed and are back to normal conditions,” said a release issued that day by the property’s promoter, Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc.

In an earlier press release on Tuesday, announcing the power problem, Okada Manila had stated: “We prioritise the safety and convenience of our guests… We are investigating the cause of the incident… We apologise to our inconvenienced guests during this unforeseen event.”

Okada Manila, slated as a multi-phase US$2.4-billion scheme, had a soft opening – referred to by the venue’s promoter as a “preview period” – on December 21, without any hotel accommodation being in operation. Okada Manila officially launched its casino operations on December 30.

On March 31, Okada Manila launched some shops and five food and drink outlets, along with a large fountain at the heart of the property.
