Gaming-testing specialist and technical consultancy Gaming Laboratories International LLC (GLI) says it has been accredited by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), the country’s gaming regulator, to test and certify online gaming systems operated by holders of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) licence.
“In order to remain in compliance with the requirements of the Philippines’ national gaming regulator, POGO licence holders can now rely on GLI to ensure their online gaming systems are tested and certified to the highest standards,” said GLI in a press release on Thursday.
“With the establishment of the POGO jurisdiction, [Pagcor] regulates the largest number of online gaming operators in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Phil Harrison, GLI Australia’s senior manager for regulation, compliance and quality assurance, in a prepared statement.
“GLI is committed to the Asia-Pacific region and will further that engagement through Pagcor’s accreditation as an independent tester at its Adelaide, Sydney and Macau test facilities,” he added.
State-owned Pagcor started accepting applications from companies wishing to acquire a Philippines licence for offshore gaming in September last year.
As of September 5, there were 42 approved operators of offshore gaming in the Philippines, according to Pagcor’s website. Such licences cover e-Casinos – offering products based either on a random number generator device or on live-dealer games – and sports betting.
In a recent interview with GGRAsia, GLI’s vice president of global services Ian Hughes said that online gaming compliance testing services have become an important part of the testing work being done by the company in Asia.
“Most of that work – I would say 90 percent of the work that we do for online gaming in the region [Asia] – is for the market in the Philippines,” said the executive.
