Two Asian companies are among five new members admitted to the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM). In a press release issued on Thursday, AGEM says its board has approved applications for membership submitted by Panasonic Corp, based in Tokyo, Japan, and Entropy Cabinet Solutions of New Taipei City in Taiwan.
Panasonic is in various businesses, including audio-visual gear, household appliances, industrial equipment, electronics and products for the hospitality industry.
Entropy Cabinet Solutions is a contract manufacturer of slot machine cabinets and signs, with a presence in the American Midwest city of Chicago.
The statement says the AGEM board had also admitted to the association Butler Snow LLP of Denver, Colorado, a law firm that deals with gaming matters in the United States; Innovum Technologies of Las Vegas, Nevada, which automates repetitive application, renewal and reporting processes for gaming licences; and Next Gaming of Las Vegas, Nevada, a designer, manufacturer and distributor of slot machines.
The newcomers bring the tally of AGEM members to 175 – the most yet. The trade body represents manufacturers and suppliers of electronic gaming devices, systems, table games, online technology, key components, and supporting products and services for the gaming industry.
AGEM says the global industry for gaming equipment generated a “total economic impact” of US$55.8 billion last year. In research released on Wednesday, the association said more than 202,400 people worldwide are either directly or indirectly employed by the sector.
