Casino gaming equipment supplier group Aruze says it has promoted Robert Blair to be its global general counsel. Mr Blair started the role in August, but the group announced the promotion in a Monday written announcement.

The press release was issued on behalf of Aruze Gaming America Inc and Aruze Gaming (Hong Kong) Ltd. Mr Blair has been with the Aruze group since November 2017 when he was hired as the global senior intellectual property counsel. He most recently served as the group’s global deputy general counsel.

The statement said Mr Blair would be responsible for the group’s corporate legal affairs, as well as: leading its corporate strategic and tactical legal and contractual initiatives; provide senior management with effective advice on company strategies and subsequent implementation; manage the legal and contracts function; and oversee the work of outside counsel.

The statement quotes Aruze’s president Rob Ziems as saying: “As a legal, patent, and gaming veteran, Bob brings an incredible amount of strength and wisdom to Aruze … In this new capacity, his expertise will continue to lead and guide the global organisation as we continue to expand and enter into new and exciting areas of business.”

Aruze has announced several changes to its executive team in recent months. In July, the company said it had promoted Martha Schuessler to the group’s vice president of global finance.

The Aruze group announced in June that Takahiro Usui, the firm’s chairman and chief executive, was to resign with effect from that month for “personal reasons”.
