Konami Holdings Corp’s gaming and systems division reported revenue of approximately JPY14.9 billion (US$137 million) for its fiscal interim period ending September 30. The figure was up 16.2 percent compared to the prior-year period, according to a Thursday announcement.

For the six months ended September 30, segmental profit from gaming and systems was nearly JPY1.7 billion, an increase of 4.1 percent when compared to the prior-year period.

In the casino gaming segment, Konami operates outside Japan via Konami Australia Pty Ltd and U.S.-based Konami Inc.

Revenue from all external customers in “Asia/Oceania” – excluding Japan – amounted to just under JPY4 billion in the six months to September 30, up 32.9 percent on the nearly JPY3 billion achieved in the prior-year period.

Konami said its KX 43 cabinet products continued to drive sales in the fiscal second quarter ended September. The company’s Concerto series of cabinets – including the Concerto Opus cabinet – were sold across the gaming markets of North America, Oceania, Latin America, and Europe.

The company also stated that it had seen “solid installations” of its casino management system Synkros during the fiscal second quarter. A biometric player-tracking function for the system had been announced outside the fiscal reporting period: during Global Gaming Expo 2019, which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States, in mid-October.

The Synkros system “continued to be introduced steadily into major casino operators, including casinos at large cruise ships in service around the world,” added Thursday’s statement.

The company additionally said that its slot title “All Aboard” had seen “strong performance” in Oceania during the fiscal second quarter.

Group-wide, Konami reported revenue of approximately JPY121.1 billion for the interim period ended September 30, down 0.9 percent from the prior-year period. Group profit for the period decreased by 11.6 percent year-on-year, to JPY15.2 billion.
