Macau casino concessionaire Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd has announced that Eileen Lui Wai Ling (pictured) has been appointed as an executive director of the company, with effect from Friday (May 9).
Ms Lui is the younger sister of Francis Lui Yiu Tung, Galaxy Entertainment’s chairman, and Paddy Tang Lui Wai Yu, an executive director of the casino firm.
Their father, Lui Che Woo, the company’s founder and long-term chairman, died on November 7, at the age of 95.
Ms Lui – who joined the group in 1993, before Galaxy Entertainment entered the gaming sector – has also been appointed as a member of the firm’s executive board as of Friday, said Galaxy Entertainment in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
The executive is currently the group’s human resources and administration director. She is also a director of a number of subsidiaries of Galaxy Entertainment.
The company said Ms Lui had not been appointed for a specific term, “but will be subject to retirement by rotation and re-election” at the firm’s annual general meetings.
Her remuneration as an executive director will comprise an annual salary of about MOP6.37 million (US$795,961) and allowance, an annual director’s fee, as well as discretionary bonus, share options, and share awards.
“Her emoluments will be determined by reference to her duties and responsibilities with Galaxy Entertainment,” as well as based on the company’s “performance and profitability, remuneration policy and market benchmark, according to the announcement.
On Thursday, Galaxy Entertainment reported first-quarter revenue of HKD11.20 billion (US$1.44 billion), up 6.2 percent from a year earlier. The company’s adjusted earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) went up 16.3 percent from the prior-year period, to nearly HKD3.30 billion.
