Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort, the South Korea casino complex of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, says it has established an internal committee dubbed “Women in Leadership”.
The aim is to “create a platform for solidarity among female employees and actively lead social contribution activities and a healthy organisational culture,” said the company in a January 22 press release.
A volunteer-based activity was conducted in a single-parent welfare facility in Incheon, South Korea, where Mohegan Inspire is located. The initiative was organised “to reach out to women in need in the local community,” said the company.
According to the announcement, a group of 15 employees visited the “Incheon Jamowon” crisis pregnancy birth support centre, and helped organise the facility’s warehouse for donated goods and clean other facilities at the centre.
Mohegan Inspire said it also “donated diapers, baby wipes, and fresh fruit,” in a bid to “bring warmth” to the mood at the facility, prior to the Lunar New Year holiday.
“Women in Leadership” is described as a committee led by female leaders at Mohegan Inspire, and is “committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the organisation”.
In January’s release, Mohegan Inspire said the “Women in Leadership” committee would “expand its activities this year to organise more social contribution programmes as well as a variety of internal activities” within the company.
The announcement quoted Jane Jon, chief finance officer at Mohegan Inspire, as saying: “Women in Leadership was formed to encourage female leaders at Inspire to take a leadership role not only in operational aspects but also in creating a healthy organisational culture.”
She added: “Through the committee, we will continue to strengthen the bond between employees in the organisation and conduct various social contribution activities.”
In September, Mohegan Inspire announced the appointment of three new female executives. The property’s promoter said at the time that the appointments brought “female leadership to the forefront of diverse areas of resort management including legal [services], finance and sales”.
