Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd (GKL), an operator of foreigner-only casinos in South Korea, says its Seven Luck casinos have recorded approximately 22 million visits by international tourists since the firm was established in September 2005.
During the same period, the company contributed an estimated KRW740 billion (US$531.3 million) to the government’s Tourism Promotion and Development Fund, it said in a press release. The fund supports infrastructure projects, domestic tourism programmes, schemes to attract overseas visitors, and welfare initiatives for disadvantaged groups.
Grand Korea Leisure disclosed the data in a release marking its 20th anniversary.
The company operates three Seven Luck-branded casinos restricted to foreign visitors: two in the capital, Seoul, including one in Gangnam, and a third in the south-eastern port city of Busan.
Grand Korea Leisure is a subsidiary of the Korea Tourism Organization, which is affiliated with the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The company hosted a special ceremony (pictured) on September 5 to mark its 20th anniversary, at its Seven Luck Gangnam COEX branch. According to GKL, the event was attended by about 150 employees and executives.
In August, GKL reported a second-quarter net profit of nearly KRW16.96 billion. The figure represented a sequential increase of 5.3 percent. Year on year, the company’s net profit rose by 49.7 percent.
In the first eight months of 2025, GKL’s aggregate casino sales were up 12.2 percent year on year, to KRW283.93 billion.
