Daesik Han, chairman and chief executive of casino developer Hann Philippines Inc, says the recent expansion of the gaming venue at Hann Casino Resort reflects the group’s desire to innovate and provide a fresh offer to its customers.
The new casino floor, which launched on Friday, is part of the expansion of the property, a complex at Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, a two-hour drive from the Philippine capital, Manila.
The fresh operational area, dubbed “The Canyon” (pictured), is described as a two-storey addition to the existing casino. According to the venue’s management, the design of the new facility was inspired by rock formations and greenery in an atrium setting.
“Whenever we venture into something new, there are no guarantees of success. But what drives us forward is the courage to innovate and the unwavering support of the people who believe in our vision,” said Mr Han, as cited in a Monday press release.
He added that Friday’s launch marked “another significant milestone for Hann Casino Resort.”
The new area is described as a 12,208.20-square-metre (131,408-sq.-feet) extension of the complex’s main casino floor.
“The first-floor gaming area can accommodate up to 446 guests and features 584 slot machines and 34 table games, according to the property’s promoter.
As part of the player offering, Aristocrat Gaming installed 270 new machines at The Canyon venue, including the “Tian Ci Jin Long” title, which made its debut in the Philippine market.
The casino expansion “introduces a bold, nature-inspired environment that seamlessly blends sophisticated design, cutting-edge technology, and immersive guest experiences, setting a new benchmark for integrated resorts in the region,” stated Hann Philippines.

The first floor of the casino expansion also has “new dining concepts,” said the company. They include “The Canyon Café and Winery”, which can accommodate 52 guests; and “Three Woks”, serving a fusion of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine, with seating capacity for 148 diners.
Hann Casino Resort launched in December 2021 as an upgrade and rebranding from the former Widus Hotel and Casino at Clark. The existing complex offers 865 hotel rooms under the Swissôtel, Marriott, and Widus brands.
Combined with the existing casino, the complex now offers a total of 1,721 slot machines, 274 table games, and 72 electronic games.
The new venue “seamlessly enhances the overall gaming portfolio, delivering an elevated experience for both seasoned players and leisure-driven guests alike,” noted the complex’s promoter.
The Hann Casino Resort expansion also involves construction of an InterContinental hotel, featuring “around 350 rooms”, Mr Han said in an interview with GGRAsia earlier this year.
A 640-room hotel under the Novotel brand is also part of the complex’s expansion, according to Mr Han.
Hann Philippines is additionally developing the Hann Reserve property at New Clark City, Pampanga. The first facility at Hann Reserve – a golf course designed by former world number-one-ranked golfer Nick Faldo – is expected to open by February next year.
